Improve Ministry To Seniors

Develop a ministry to senior members that will utilize the experience and knowledge of seniors..

   Goal: Design and implement a program of activity that will both minister to and utilize the vast experience of senior members of the congregation, insuring that they are involved in the total ministry of the church.

    Narrative. The ministry will provide services to seniors that taps the experiences and skills of seniors as they continue to minister to the congregation in their senior years. As participants, seniors will teach younger members skills in crafts, dramatic arts, historic involvement and other areas of participation.  Some of the activities will include: quilting, baking, fishing, painting, art, household management, and  marital counseling. The ministry will provide senior oriented recreation and services to seniors in need of special assistance which will include: support groups for families with aging members, Alzheimer’s support, health and fitness concerns, hospice services, etc..

    Resources Needed: Mothers, Deaconess, Family Ministry Committee.

   Resource Development: The church will provide training opportunities for program delivery resource persons through its leadership training program.

     Implementation Goal:

    2000, Program Design completed, household management assistance begins
    2001, Marital counseling assistance, senior support groups formed
    2002, Personal management assistance begins
    2003, Senior recreation program begins

    Implementation Time Frame: March 2001 to December 2005

    Cost of Implementation: $1,000 over four years for program materials.
