Praise & Worship

  • Preaching of the Gospel: The preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is formost at Tabernacle. Each Sunday our pastor preaches an uncompromising Gospel in the power and tradition of the African-American Baptist Church.  Food the soul, mind and spirit is the order of the day each Sunday as our pastor challenges us with teaching, parables and hard preaching that inspires and motivates us to reach higher and dig deeper into the Word.   • Praise & Worship: Each Sunday at 10 45 a.m. Our congregation meets to worship and praise God with singing, prayer and preaching. The ministry of Music and Praise is co-ordinated by Sister Brenda Carolyn Kyles, minister of Music.
  • Bible Study
     
  • Sunday Morning Bible Study is held each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. for an hour of worship and bible study in our Sunday Church School. Our Sunday Bible Study is headed by Sister Joella Crandell Williams
  • Wednesday Bible Study: Each Wednesday at 6 p.m. there is an informal Bible study and prayer gathering. The bible studies are conducted by our pastor.

    Leadership School
     
  • The Tabernacle School of Christian Education is a year round leadership training school. Certified by the Sunday School Publishing Board of the National Baptist Convention, it offers and curriculum of training, bible study and instruction to those who want to improve themselves in bible knowledge and leadership skill.
  • Family Support
  • Marriage Retreat: Married Couples get advice and support in building strong Christian marriages through the church's annual marriage retreat, held each year at Tall Timbers Retreat Center in Alexandria. It's a time when married couples can get help in maintaining the romantic aspects of their lives  as well as spiritual growth.

  • Singles Retreat: The annual retreat for singles is held  to give support to singles as they strive to live the Christian life. It is a great ministry to those who are single by choice, death, divorce or Youth.

  • Family Activities: New Tabernacle offers a variety of  quality time experiences for the entire family. As well as worship, prayer and praise, the congregation regularly hosts social activities that include skating, vacation weekends, cookouts, trips to Six Flags and many other activities that help families spend quality time together surrouded by Christian Friends.

  • Health Care for Families: Health care professionals who are members of our congregation regularly give advice, instruction and guidance to the membership on ways to improve their health. Cancer, diabetes, hygiene and other health areas are regular subjects of  this ministry.

  • Men's Fellowship: The men of our congregation meet each Monday morning in a 15 minute prayer session as they ask God for guidance, strength and protection during the upcoming week. In addition the men sponsor fellowship activities for men, an annual  seminar on improving themselves as husbands and other activities.

  • Youth Activities: Youth Activities abound at New Tabernacle. Your youth will find a program of activity that is both challenge and rewarding. Most important to young people, it is fun. The Church's Award Winning "Circle of the Chosen" has been recognized for its outstanding drill teams, bible knowledge teams and talents. Youth acvities include participation in the Black Heritage Parade, Youth Encampment, Judgment House Fall Festival, Black Heritage Drama, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Youth Choir, Youth Ushers..pizza parties, retreats, skating, bible study and a  world of acitivity that bring support to youth trying to cope with the tough job of  bing young and Christian.
  • Television Ministry
  • Reaching Thousands through television. The television ministry of our church reaches thousands each Sunday. Since 1992 this growing minstry ministers to those hungry for the word and the worship experience but are confined to their sick beds. Each Sunday night at 9 p.m. our services are broadcast on KMCT Channell 39 (11 on the Cable) featuring the voices of Tabernacle and preaching of our pastor
  • Community Ministries

  •  Tab-N-Action, Inc: Our community service corporation, Tab-N-Action, Inc., serves the general community through sponsorship of  community based programs that assist the needy.

  •  
  • Computer Laboratory: New Tabernacle offers computer training to its members and friends. Regular classes for both youth and adults in using the Internet, World Wide Web, WordPerfect, Lotus and many of  most common software packages needed in the work place are offered in the church computer Laboratory.

  • Community Leadership: Members of the New Tabernacle congregation are encouraged and supported in their involvement in city and parish government and other areas of  public service. A variety of viewpoints and political persusasions exist in our membership, but all have one common goal, to make a difference in the quality of  life of our community, which is our church goal.

  • Homeless Helpers: The homeless in our community receive assistance through our homeless ministry. Hot meals are prepared and distributed weekly. In addition beginning in 1999 hot baths, a change of clothes and hygine packs will also be provided to the homeless through this ministry.

  • Partnered Families: The members of our congregation partner with an anonymous needy family for a year. We pray for our partners, send them letters and assist them during special times of the year with back to school, Easter, and Christmas love packages.

  • Top Gun  Leadership Academy: The Top Gun Leadership Academy is a program of leadership training for boys and girls between the ages of 10-18. The Top Gun Scouting program is one of the largest Boy Scouting units in the nation, with over 150 members. It includes an Explorer Post and a Cub Scouting Unit as well. Hundreds of youth from throughout the city are assisted in learning Christian Values throught the Top Gun Leadership Program.

  • Teens For The Dream: The annual Teens for the Dream Program honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is the largest gathering of teens to celebrate Dr. King's dream in the city. Held on the Holiday each year, it is sponsored by the members of our congregation through Tab-N-Action, Inc.

  • City Wide Heritage Drama: Promotion of the Dramatic Arts is another way in which the Tabernacle congregation promotes the development of the total person. Each year the Black Heritage Drama is presented at the Monroe Civic Center and is attended by over 5,000 people. The dramas, music and other preparations are all produced at Tabernacle.
